Building of the Year 2018

We were excited to see that the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa designed by Heatherwick Studio, as featured in one of our ThinkLab Talk posts of 2017 has been made a winner in the Cultural Architecture category of Archdaily’s Building of the Year 2018.  Its always encouraging to have Cape Town featured in world design through its latest landmark piece of architecture combined with a piece of the city’s original architectural landmarks: the famous old grain silos next to the docks.

We worked with the Biden Hotel Group on a series of CGI’s in preparation for the launch of the Silo Hotel, perched neatly upon the Museum, with its bug eye – like iconic windows.  Our favourite shot has to be the bathroom image below.

Out of thousands of nominations, Archdaily readers narrowed it down to 5 per category, and finally to 15 winners.  Other highlights from these awards include the Apple store in Michigan, Chicago by Foster + Partners, winner in the Commercial Architecture category…

… And in the Housing category, Huangshan Mountain Village, a futuristic rather curvaceous development by MAD Architects, featured in this stunning aerial view below:
